A Founder’s Story

Liberia on My Mind

CMFIN.png

I was born to Liberian parents, and although the Liberian Civil War changed the course of my family’s journey, it never changed our connection to home.

As I pursued a career in medicine, eventually becoming a board-certified Cardiothoracic and General Surgeon, Liberia was never far from my thoughts.

Throughout every stage of my education, training, and career, one question remained with me:

What can I do to help my country?

I thought about the patients who deserved greater access to safe, specialized surgical care. I thought about the healthcare professionals in Liberia who accomplish extraordinary things despite limited resources. And I thought about the incredible knowledge, talent, and generosity found throughout the Liberian diaspora and among friends of Liberia across the world.

Over time, I realized that lasting change would not come from one individual or one medical mission.

It would come from building a community committed to working together.

That vision became the Liberia Global Health & Surgery Consortium (LGHSC)—an organization dedicated to bringing together healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, institutions, the Liberian diaspora, and global partners to strengthen healthcare through collaboration, education, training, research, and sustainable capacity building.

LGHSC exists to help create long-term solutions by investing in people, sharing knowledge, and building partnerships that empower Liberia’s healthcare system for generations to come.

For me, this is more than an organization.

It is my way of giving back to the country that has always been part of who I am.

No matter where life has taken me, one thing has remained constant:

Liberia has always been on my mind.
And now, through LGHSC, that vision has become a mission.
